David Livingstone Johnson, formerly President of the
Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board passed away, quietly at Princess
Margaret Hospital on Tuesday, August 14th, following a brief illness, at
the age of 67.
Dedicated to the successful development of
tourism in Grand Bahama, Mr. Johnson was influential in the decision to
reposition the destination away from the commercial image of “Freeport
in the international marketplace replacing it with Grand Bahama Island.
The term he felt symbolized a multifaceted destination with historic
seaside settlements, beaches and cays along with the modern amenities
featuring golf, gaming, diving, fishing, soft adventures, shopping and
nightlife.
